If you’re reading this, you may feel a bit lost (or, like I was, a whole hella lost), disconnected, or just plain overwhelmed. Maybe you can’t remember the last time you felt that spark of excitement, passion, or purpose. If so, first off—you're not alone! Many women have been where you are, and these books are here to help you find yourself again. Grab a cozy spot, and let’s dive into some truly inspiring reads.
Why These Books?
Each of these books speaks to different parts of the journey back to ourselves. They remind us that growth isn’t about doing everything perfectly; it’s about creating space to reconnect with what lights us up and makes us feel alive. So grab a book, a warm drink, and let these words remind you of the strength and potential already within you.
*special note: Books hit differently at different times. Some books that help EVERYBODY on the planet, may not speak to you. One book may speak to the depths of your soul today and make you say "meh" another day. Be gentle, remind yourself that there is nevery one perfect solution to any issue. It's a great opportunity to tune into your gut and respect those feelings.
1. I Am Diosa by Christine Gutierrez
Christine’s book speaks directly to women who feel like they’ve lost their power. It’s a gentle guide to reclaiming yourself, and it resonates deeply if you’re just beginning to step out of the fog. It's raw, wonderfully compassionate and a fresh voice in the often "same old, same old" world of self-help books.
2. Untamed by Glennon Doyle
If you’re feeling like you’re living everyone else’s life but your own, this one’s for you. Glennon’s powerful stories remind us that we were made to live boldly and unapologetically. I highlighted 90% of the text because, As a woman, this book hits so many sweet spots and itchy spots and sparkly spots.
3. The Essential Law of Attraction Collection by Esther and
Jerry Hicks
Don't immediately say no to this because of the "out-there-ness" of Esther Hicks and the Law of Attraction. For those ready to change their mindset and manifest something new, this collection explores how the Law of Attraction can open new possibilities. It’s a refreshing perspective on inviting positivity and abundance.
4. The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown
Brené brings us a reassuring reminder that we don’t have to be perfect to be worthy. If you struggle with self-doubt or people-pleasing, this book will be a comfort and a gentle nudge toward embracing who you are.
5. The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo
A favorite for anyone on a journey of self-discovery, Mark Nepo’s book is perfect for daily reflections. Each page offers insights that help you slow down, tune in, and listen to what truly matters to you.
6. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
Jen’s down-to-earth, no-nonsense style makes this a fun, empowering read. It's a pep talk in a book, perfect if you need a bit of a push to start making those small but powerful changes. I don't think I would have picked this up on my own, but someone gave it to me and I was surprised by how much highlighting I did. I will warn you that if you are still working your way out and thus triggered by victim mindset, hold off on this one. I know there was a big chunk of time where this book would have done much harm to me.
7. Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
Elizabeth Gilbert shows us that everyone has creative potential. If you’re feeling uninspired or stagnant, Big Magic might just bring a little light back into your life by helping you make room for your creative side. I can't say this this book helped me to free up my creativity but I found it a fascinating read and you can confirm this with anyone who crossed paths with me while I was reading it.
8. Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach
Tara’s book is for anyone who feels stuck in self-criticism or shame. With warmth and compassion, she teaches how to let go of harsh self-judgments, which can be the first step toward truly embracing who you are. Did I already mention warmth and compassion? Yeah, this book has so much.
9. Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés
A beautifully written and poetic book, it delves into the wild nature within all women. Clarissa’s stories will resonate if you’re looking to reconnect with your intuition and inner strength. This is a book that I rejected for YEARS. When someone I absolutely trust with all matters book and growth told me this was the book I needed, I reluctantly ordered it. Then it sat on my shelf for months. The day I finally opened it, I "whooped" out loud. This is like nothing I have every read before. It's definitely not a quick read and, at least for me, it's a "oh, I need to set this down for a while and just let that digest." I then go back to it after weeks and reread from start. Probably you'll hate it at first and curse me for having recommended it. But I swear this book speaks to the depths of a woman's soul like nothing I could have imagined.
10. Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed
This collection of advice columns by Cheryl Strayed offers a mix of hard-hitting wisdom and tender compassion. Cheryl’s words will give you comfort and perspective when life feels challenging.
I saw a great TikTok recently where it was suggested to have just one book. Your book. Find a book that resonates with you and read it over a few times. Absorb it, Take action based on it. Get the lesson before moving on. Sometime it takes many books and just the right timing to get that one book, so enjoy the process as it is a way to learn about yourself. Happy reading! ✨
